Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has called on the youth to change “government jobs” only mind-set as there are many jobs in private sector too.
The Chief Minister was speaking after signing an agreement between the Confederation of India Industries (CII) and Goa Employment Exchange for job placements and apprenticeships.
The Chief Minister said that the Employment Exchange has now been revamped into MCC which will help the youth in getting counselling for right job.
“We are planning career counselling camps at taluka level also. This will not just help for getting placements but also career counselling, soft skills and how to face interviews,” he said.
He said CII has MCCs at 40 places all over India.
“This means the youth can get jobs not just in Goa but outside the State too,” the Chief Minister stated.
However, Dr Sawant added, “We have to move out of mind-set that we will only work for government job only. The youth must register at Employment Exchange as they can now get offers of private jobs also.”
On the occasion 75 youth were handed over employment letters by CM Dr Pramod Sawant and Jennifer Monseratte. Minister for Labour and Employment.
Mrs Monseratte said that CII is currently managing 40 MCCs in the country and the partnership will help Goan youth immensely.
“This partnership will help in creating more employment opportunities to our youth,” she said.
Blaise Costabir, president CII – Goa, Atul Jadhav and other officials were also present.
As per the MoU, CII with the support of Employment Exchange, Govt. of Goa will setup, manage and operate Model Career Centre (MCC). Leverage industry linkages and strength of membership of CII and other CII MCCs for job placements and apprenticeships.
The partnership will help in pre-employment preparation and Soft Skills / IT Skills to youth / Job Seekers.
This will also help job and career opportunities through counselling and placement activities.
The CII will provide workshops in institutions, candidate registration / counselling,
candidate employment preparation sessions, connecting with Industry and aggregating jobs
placement facilitation – job drives / job fairs.
