SANKHALI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday inaugurated a Maha Loan Mela organised under the Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission at Navelim Panchayat in Sankhali, aimed at empowering women and self-help groups through financial assistance and entrepreneurship support.
The initiative was organised in collaboration with partner banks and financial institutions, with participation from women entrepreneurs and members of various self-help groups (SHGs). The Chief Minister also congratulated the Surabhi MCLF Co-operative Multipurpose Society and participating institutions for supporting the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sawant said the initiative would strengthen “Nari Shakti” by ensuring easier access to finance, on-the-spot banking support and opportunities for women to establish and expand businesses in sectors such as tailoring, food processing, dairy and agriculture.
“When women rise, Goa rises. We are working towards a Swayampurna Goa and Viksit Bharat by creating opportunities for financial independence and rural entrepreneurship,” the Chief Minister said.
He further stated that the government is focusing on creating a strong ecosystem for rural enterprises through institutional support, technical guidance and market linkages to help women-led ventures grow sustainably.
