PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that lockdown is not an alternative at the moment and that the people should corporate and adhere to all the the Covid protocols.
“Lockdown is not the alternative at the moment, people should follow all covid norms and corporate fully with state government.” Said Sawant
CM Sawant further said that the state government has to keep economic activities functional.
“Lockdown is not a solution. We do not want to disturb people. After the last lockdown, we had to start labour camps and the economy had dropped to zero. Revenue collection had dropped. Lockdown will not lead to reduction in corona. The solution is vaccination, social distancing, wearing of masks and exercising precautions,” the Goa Chief Minister said.
Sawant also said that the enforcement agencies has been instructed to fine an individual multiple times a day if he is found violating COVID-19 norms on more than one occasion.
While conceding that the COVID-19 cases are increasing, he contended that the only solution is to increase testing, ensure medical facilities and create micro-containment zones. Mentioning that Goa is recording nearly 450 daily cases, Sawant stated that the aim was to reduce the mortality rate.
