Panaji – Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s statement that almost five thousand people from outside Goa are working in various companies in the State and are entering Goa daily exposes that the BJP Government in Goa is working for welfare of non-Goans charged GPCC General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar.
“It is shocking and highly condemnable that the most irresponsible and defective Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant makes a statement expressing his helplessness on restricting the movement of people from outside the State. This proves that for the local BJP government, wealth is above the health of Goans,” stated Amarnath Panjikar.
He said it is clear now that the BJP Government has allowed local industries to recruit outsiders in their establishments when thousands of young goans are awaiting job opportunities.
“The local BJP Government always supported and encouraged outsiders to come and make fortunes in Goa,” stated Amarnath Panjikar.
“We demand that BJP Government must take strict action on all those industries who have recruited outsiders denying job opportunities to Goans. The pro-capitalist agenda of the BJP is responsible for this gross injustice on Goans,” he says.
It is only because of the High Court that Curfew was imposed in Goa. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has time and again proved that his priorities are towards welfare of neighbouring States at the cost of sufferings of Goan, Panjikar said.
“When patients were dying due to lack of Oxygen in GMC, Dr. Pramod Sawant was sending oxygen cylinders to BJP functionaries in Sindhadurga. Now, outsiders are allowed to book vaccination slots in Goa. People of Goa are only used as Guinea Pigs in BJP’s mission of making fortunes,” he said.
“We deamand that Labour and Employment Minister Jennifer Monserrate must release a White Paper on employment scenario in Goa with details of Goans and non-Goans working in various industries and business firms in Goa. Minister must also come out with the data of what efforts are taken by the Government to provide employment opportunities to Goans in private industries,” Amarnath Panjikar said.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must reveal to the public about his “love affair” with neighbouring States. He has always compromised the interest of Goa to give benefits to other States, stated Amarnath Panjikar.
If Chief Minister himself accepts that almost five thousand workers enter Goa daily to work in various industries, it is clear that more than 15 to 20 thousand jobs in Goa are currently occupied by non-Goans as many outsiders are actually staying in rented premises here. This is total injustice on the Goans and proves that BJP government is not at all concerned of the wellfare of youths in Goa.
“We once again warn the BJP government not to play with the sentiments and emotions of the people. In this critical times, BJP government must work with a single point agenda of welfare of Goans,” he says.
