TALEIGAO: Congress Taleigao Leader and Former CCP Mayor Tony Rodrigues has filed a complaint against unknown persons for hill cutting and destruction of the environment in Taleigao without appropriate permissions.
“I state that an illegal construction of road/access and hill cutting is ongoing at Satismo Wado on the main road after Asha mahal, besides Supremo building on the right-hand side of the road leading from Taleigao Church towards Soi hotel,” the complaint letter by Tony states.
He further said that when he visited the site, he saw an access road being built by cutting of Hill, and work was ongoing of constructing the access road, which is almost 15 meters wide and is vertically inclined, reaching up to the top of the Hill.
“There is also a house /bungalow built at the site, and its construction is underway. The illegal road access is purely done to benefit the private individual, and this road acts only as private access to the under-construction house/structure,” he added.
Tony also said that the panchayat and the local ward members have turned a blind eye and are probably is in hand in glow with this illegal activity.
“Such acts of hill cutting damage the natural balance, and there is a great likelihood of soil erosion, landslides which might endanger the neighbouring houses,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tony has demanded that the Forest Department take immediate steps to stop this illegal construction and initiate criminal actions.
