CORTALIM: In a bid to break the virus chain, the Cortalim panchayat struggling with rising Covid cases have now requested closure of all non-essential shops in the panchayat jurisdiction.
The Sarpanch of Cortalim panchayat Senia Pereira issued an order directing non-essential stores to remain closed till 9th May.
“Whereas a surge in Covid 19 cases are being witnessed in our village panchayat jurisdiction and in Goa and the situation might further aggravate due to public gathering and active interactions and whereas in order to contain the spread of said Pandemic, Panchayat has taken certain measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. And whereas all restaurants, Hotels, Bars, Coffee shops, Canteens, eateries, mobile carts, Gaddas, Garments and Mobile shops are kindly requested to remain closed until 9th May” the order said.
It further says that all hotels and restaurants shall opt for take away instead of in house dining.
