PANAJI: Indian Meteorological Centre (IMD) in its weather forcast has said that heavy rainfall is expected to lash Goa till the September 29.
“Cyclonic storm “Gulab”, weakened into a Deep Depression & lay centered at 0830hrs IST of 27th September 2021 over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh,” said IMD
The IMD further said that
its westward movement, rainfall activity is likely to increase over Goa. Heavy rainfall(rainfall>6.4cm in 24hrs) very likely at one or two places over North& South Goa districts on 27th, 28th & 29th September.
“It is likely to move nearly westwards& weaken into a Depression during next 06 hours and into a well marked Low pressure area during subsequent 24 hours,” it added.
It also said that intense spells of showers for a short duration are very likely over North and South Goa districts during this period. Winds with speed around 40 kmph are likely to occur along with rain spells. With increased rainfall activity to continue, the areas vulnerable for landslide and flooding may be kept under monitoring,” the weather department had said.
