PANAJI: Congress Party President Amit Patkar today wrote a letter to Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar urging him to decide on the pending Disqualification Petitions against Eight MLAs who defected from Congress to BJP in September 2022.
I draw your attention to the pending Disqualification Petition dated 6th December 2022 filed against Eight MLAs who defected from Congress to BJP on 14th September 2022 and request you to decide on the same in a time bound manner, Amit Patkar has stated in his letter.
The letter also mentions of the Petition recently disposed by the Speaker against two MLAs Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat. The said Petition was earlier filed by Congress President Amit Patkar.
Congress President has urged the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly to disqualify Michael Lobo, Digambar Kamat, Aleixo Sequeira, Sankalp Amonkar, Rodolfo Fernandes, Delilah Lobo, Rajesh Faldessai and Kedar Naik for violating Xth Schedule of Constitution of India.
I will explore all legal remedies if the Speaker continues to delay on deciding on the Petition pending before him, Amit Patkar has said.
It may be reaclled that the Eight MLAs who got elected on Congress Party symbol had defected and joined BJP in September 2022. Congress President had thereafter filed a Disqualification Petition against all eight MLAs which is pending for last 17 months before the Speaker.
