CALANGUTE: Two brothers have been detained by Calangute police on suspicion of defrauding foreigners of Rs 1.4 crore via a phony online call center located in Navsari, Gujarat.
At the Gujarati cybercrime police station limits in Navsari, authorities discovered a phony online call center.
The two Jodhpur-based suspects, Rudradutt alias Michael and Gajju, were charged with defrauding foreigners out of Rs 1.4 crore via the call centre. The suspects are said to have obtained the money using cryptocurrency.
In accordance with Sections 388, 170, 171, 465, 467, 468, 471, 428, 120(b) and 34 of the IPC as well as Sections 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Prevention Act, the Navsari police filed a case against the suspects.
According to information that the accused had fled to Goa and was in the Calangute region, the Navsari police were notified. The Gujarat Police then got in touch with the Calangute Police.
