Panaji: Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men Championship 2024-25 witnessed two thrilling matches on Monday.
The day’s events unfolded with Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, and P.E.S’s Rajaram & Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, emerging victorious against their respective opponents.
In the first match, S.S. Dempo College faced off against V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar. V.M. Salgaocar College won the toss and chose to bowl first. S.S. Dempo College set a challenging target of 149/6 in 20 overs, with Mihir Gawde scoring an impressive 69 runs off 53 balls.
In response, V.M. Salgaocar College managed only 103/9 in 20 overs, with Nikhil Ganpule contributing 30 runs. Abhinandan Thakur’s impressive bowling performance, taking four wickets for just 13 runs, sealed the win for S.S. Dempo College by 46 runs.
The second match saw P.E.S College of Pharmacy take on Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim. Govt. College won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 120/9 in 20 overs.
Atharva Surlakar was the top scorer with 43 runs. P.E.S College successfully chased down the target, scoring 121/7 in 19.2 overs. Nikhil Shinde played a crucial role with 30 runs and two wickets, helping his team secure a three-wicket victory.
