PANAJI: A series of cryptic Facebook posts by former Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) chief Manoj Parab and MLA Viresh Borkar has fuelled speculation of a growing rift between the two leaders, with their back-and-forth social media posts pointing towards an apparent cold war.
The online exchanges appear to have begun with contrasting messages shared on their respective social media profiles. Viresh Borkar posted a graphic emphasising the importance of political narratives, stating, “Thoughts shape narratives. Narratives shape votes. Votes shape Goa’s future. Choose wisely. Goa is listening.”
In what appeared to be a counter to the narrative-driven approach, Manoj Parab wrote, “Whenever NARRATIVE is prioritised over a genuine vision and mission for the sake of votes, dirty politics begins. It may shape and strengthen a politician’s career, but ultimately, it does little to benefit society at large.”
Parab accompanied the post with hashtags including #Reality, #PresentPolitics and #SelfishThoughts.
In another pointed post, Parab appeared to take aim at compromises in political values, stating, “When vision is compromised for personal gain, politics gets dirty. When personal interests come before public interest, shaking hands with the builders lobby becomes the new ‘development’.”
The remarks have triggered discussion among political observers and supporters, with the cryptic posts being interpreted as signs of growing differences over political vision, ambitions and strategy.
However, neither Parab nor Borkar has publicly confirmed that the posts were directed at each other or officially addressed speculation about an internal fallout.
