PANAJI: The Directorate of Technical Education will implement the Coding and Robotics Educational Scheme, Goa (CARES), by a specially established project monitoring unit. The Scheme will be implemented in two phases. In phase 1, for school students of standard 6th, 7th and 8th and phase 2 for other classes.
The Government will develop CT/CD laboratories at each Government and Aided school in a phased manner. These laboratories will be state–of–the–art centres with development labs, design studios, prototyping labs, 3D printers, robotic sets, etc. The initiative will also conduct rigorous training and workshops to prepare the manpower.
As part of the initiative, there will be awareness programs, workshops, hackathons, seminars, conferences, certification programs, etc., carried out to accomplish the initiative’s mission. The CARES Scheme will employ a comprehensive and structured approach to ensuring the initiative’s needs are adequately met. It will also partner with the industry’s best individuals and companies to provide students with a truly high-quality experience to meet international standards.
This Scheme aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to navigate the digital world, as well as hone their logical thinking and Computational thinking (CT), which is recognized as one of the key 21st-century skills that involve understanding a problem, designing a solution and expressing it in a form that a human or a machine can execute. The National Educational Policy 2020 highlighted the importance of mathematical and computational thinking, which can be taught through puzzles and games that make the learning process more enjoyable and engaging.
