PONDA: The farmers now fear that the PMC proposed road alongside the main nulla in Draft ODP for 2030 will bulldoze on green agricultural land.
Farmers, after reading reports, said if this plan comes to reality, then most of the fields alongside the nullah would be destroyed.
“It’s strange planning by South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA )and Ponda Municipal Council (PMC),” said some farmers and locals.
It may be recalled that yesterday on 8 September, PMC held an urgent meeting on the instruction of SGPDA for modifications and suggestions in Draft Outline Development Plan for Ponda wherein PMC has suggested 15 meter road from Zareshwar Ponda Bus Stand alongside the main nullah to to Bypass NH at Kapileshwarim (Farmagudi- Dhavlim Margao road).
This road PMC has been proposed in City to decongest the traffic, which will pass from exactly behind the Government Building at Tisk Ponda.
Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar reacting to the proposed road in Draft ODP said the new proposed road would come on agricultural land, and even if though the new road is proposed, the Kavlem locals would insist on keeping open the existing parallel road from Khadpaband Ponda to Kavlem Village which is shown dead-end at Khadpaband on Ponda ODP.
