PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed that all farmers who lost their crop due to heavy rains to get compensation before Ganesh Chaturthi as promised.
CM Sawant was addressing the press conference at Mantralaya.
“All farmers who lost their crop due to heavy rains to get compensation before Ganesh Chaturthi as promised; process already started; those farmers without krishi card to also get benefit,” said Sawant
Sawant pointed out that technical problems, such missing paperwork, frequently make the compensation procedure more difficult, and in these situations, farmers must provide affidavits.
He promised that as soon as the weather cleared up, surveyors would be sent out right away to evaluate the damage.
We have to acknowledge that doing the survey will be challenging because the majority of the fields are flooded. The ZAO authorities will conduct the surveys as soon as the weather clears up,” he stated.
The department has set aside the necessary cash to make the reimbursements when approved, with the crop damage evaluated to date worth at over Rs 3.5 crore.
In the meanwhile, farmers who suffer crop damage as a result of climate-related disasters are only eligible for compensation if they possess “Krishi Cards.” Sawant had promised to take care of farmers who are not landowners and are consequently unable to create “krishi cards.”
Sawant informed the House during the debate on the damage to crops caused by the July heavy rainfall phenomena that farmers lacking “krishi cards” will also receive compensation from the “CM Relief Fund.”
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had during the monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly said that the government would compensate farmers whose crops were damaged due to the extreme rainfall in June.
He had also assured the House that the payments would be made to the affected farmers by Ganesh Chaturthi (September 7).
