BARDEZ: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified food safety surveillance across Bardez, inspecting 11 restaurants and chicken slaughter units as part of its ongoing enforcement measures.
Following the inspections, six units were directed to suspend operations after the compliance submitted in response to earlier inspections was found to be inadequate.
The concerned premises will remain closed until the identified deficiencies are fully rectified and the required compliance is verified by the FDA.
The department said inspections will continue across Goa, with particular attention being given to milk products and compliance with the Government advisory concerning the labelling of products made from milk analogues.
The FDA will also scrutinise labels carrying potentially misleading claims as part of its food safety and consumer protection measures.
The department said the enforcement drive is aimed at ensuring safe, hygienic and accurately labelled food products and protecting public health across the state.
