VASCO: Finally, after years of wait, the multi-level Car Parking (MLCP) has been approved by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, and the facility will be made operational by this month, says Dabolim airport director Gagan Malik.
Dabolim International Airport Director Gagan Malik told the media that the multi-level car parking (MLCP) at Dabolim airport, which was not operational, has been approved by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
“I feel that this MLCP will be made operational within this month,” he stated.
Director further said that by making this MLCP operational, the airport’s parking and traffic congestion will be reduced to a great extent.
Further, to take care of the parking, additional land opposite the Dabolim airport will be procured to make parking arrangements and other aspects of the airport.
Malik further said that as per the norms of the International Civil Aviation Organization, there should be multiple choices available for the passengers to reach and leave the airport.
“This means that the airport should have cars, buses, taxis and multi-modal means of transportation for passengers,” he said.
He further added that their bus services have already started with the discussion with the Kadamba transport.
“We are in discussion with the Transport department to put more number of buses and more number of destinations so that passengers can also have an option to opt for the lesser amount of services available with them,” he added.
Malik also disclosed that after the Chennai and Kolkata airport, Goa has ranked third in the position of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) airports in terms of handling the number of passengers.
“The tourist footfalls in Goa have increased tremendously recently,” he added.
