PANAJI: The Goa Raj Bhavan has finally been brought under the purview of the Right to Information.
“I am ready to accept the supremacy of people and put records of Raj Bhavan in the public domain,” he added. The Governor had said.
The state Raj Bhavan had in the past informed the Goa State Information Commission (GSIC) that the Governor does not come under the purview of the Right to Information Act, as the Governor is not a “Public Authority”.
The then Secretary to the Governor, Rupesh Kumar Thakur, in his reply to a complaint filed over non-compliance of the RTI Act by the Raj Bhavan, had stated that Raj Bhavan is not a legal entity and certainly not a “Public Authority”.
Later, a petition was made to Pillai to bring the Raj Bhavan under the purview of the Right to Information Act, 2005.
