PONDA: Ponda police has registered an FIR against Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) North Goa candidate Manoj Parab for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct.
According to police, the case has been filed for conducting an illegal election rally with his 50 supporters. The candidate had no permission from the competent authority to conduct the rally.
Manoj Parab has been charged with violating the Model Code of Conduct.
In another case, Agacaim Police arrested Manjunath Halwagal r/o Agacaim for allegedly disobeying an order by an SST officer in search of the car of Manjunath at Pillar in which cash of Rs. 4.50 lakhs was found. Manjunath also failed to produce legal documents.
A total of 31 complaints of violation of the Model Code of Conduct(MCC) were received by CEO Goa from political parties as well as the general public, of which 28 have been disposed of while only 3 are pending, informed CEO Goa Ramesh Verna.
He further informed that several of the complaints were not related to polls but were redirected to corresponding authorities. Goa police will ensure that the elections are held in a free, fair and friendly manner, informed IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi.
Briefing the media about the multitier policing system he said, a cluster of 6 to 7 Sector police officers will be supervised by one Sector-supporting police officer who in turn will be monitored by a Zonal Police officer at the SP level.
Incidentally, the total post-MCC seizure by Enforcement Agencies from March 16 to April 29 is Rs 17.1209948 crore.
