BETUL: An 11-year-old teen drowned during a group of young people from Betul’s clam fishing excursion in the River Sal, which turned tragic.
But when women nearby who were gathering clams raised a cry, a fisherman came to the aid of two more children.
The 11-year-old child drowned while the two children, who were about 12 and 10 years old, were saved by the fisherman.
After being rescued, one of the children was taken in an ambulance for medical attention, and the 11-year-old’s body was later pronounced dead.
According to sources, a large number of women were also in the river harvesting mussels and clams.
It is thought that the women alerted the authorities when they noticed the children struggling in the water.
