PANAJI: Goa Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has strongly criticised the proposed Anti-Conversion Bill, accusing the BJP of attempting to divide the people of Goa along religious lines.
Alemao alleged that the BJP was using a “divide and rule” policy targeting Hindus, Christians and Muslims through the proposed legislation. He said the Congress would oppose any such attempt to create divisions in society.
The Opposition Leader said the Congress would continue to focus on issues affecting Goa, including corruption and matters concerning the welfare and interests of the people.
Alemao maintained that the party would take its campaign against the BJP to the people of Goa and work towards defeating the ruling party in the 2027 Assembly elections.
