PANAJI: The Office of the Mamlatdar of Tiswadi Taluka has terminated the lease agreement for the Teen Manas Sluice Gate, following a summary inquiry initiated by the Managing Committee of the Santa Cruz Tenant Association against the existing lessee, Elson Jose Braganza.
The order, issued by Tiswadi Mamlatdar Dattaprasad S. Toraskar, directs Braganza to remove all fishing nets, equipment and personal belongings from the sluice gate and the bundh within 24 hours.
The Mamlatdar has further directed that in the event of non-compliance, the Managing Committee of the Santa Cruz Tenant Association may proceed to remove the fishing apparatus and submit a compliance report to the revenue authorities.
As part of the arrangements following termination of the lease, the Santa Cruz Tenant Association has been instructed to keep a close watch on the site and prevent any unauthorised activity.
The Old Goa Police Station has also been directed to maintain strict vigil at the location, particularly during night hours, to ensure that no unauthorised fishing activity takes place during the intervening period.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the North Goa District Collector and the Deputy Collector for information and necessary administrative oversight.
The action brings the lease of the Teen Manas Sluice Gate to an end following the proceedings initiated by the Santa Cruz Tenant Association.
