PANJIM: BBSM President Subhash Velingkar on Thursday has appealed Church authorities to follow the guidelines laid down in the National Education Policy on MOI and respect mother tongue.
He has also urged Church authorities to convert their English medium primary schools in Konkani as per the new policy.
“In national interest, i urge churches to convert their English medium primary schools in Konkani as per the new education policy. The Church should set an example that they are in sync with nation interest.
Further Velingkar, who was at the forefront against grants to English Medium Schools, has welcomed the central governments move to bring on the New Education Policy 2020 while urging the state government to implement the new Education policy in Goa at the earliest.
“I welcome the decision of Education minister for finally bringing the much awaited changes to the Education policy.It had almost been 34 years that nothing was taken into consideration.”
He further lamented that in the past there have been many instances wherein Marathi and konkani schools in Goa closed down due to the decisions taken by BJP government.
In last 3 years not a single school was given permission to start in Marathi and Konkani medium. About 100 permission were rejected by Education department.” The BBSM president said
Velingkar also claimed that BBSM had tk start a revolution against the BJP government as they had completely sabotaged the language issue while informing that this revolution is still there and will continue.
Meanwhile, Velingkar applauded the MHRD minister for taking in some remarkable decisions in new Education policy that were neglected over the years.
