LOLIEM: A 41-year-old football enthusiast tragically passed away late on Monday night at Shellim-Loliem after collapsing during a tie-breaker game.
Reliable sources claim that Royce Fernandes participated in the tie-breaker competition held in honor of Our Lady of Fatima Shellim.
Royce was waiting for the next round among the other players after winning the third round when he abruptly passed out. He was taken to the CHC at Chaudi right away, where the on-call physician pronounced him brought dead.
Royce, who was employed overseas prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, is survived by his spouse, parents, two siblings, and grandparents.
It is believed that he experienced a massive cardiac arrest on Monday due to the extremely high temperatures.
