PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that his department will take stern action against the concerned individual for organising a party, 100 meters from the turtle nesting site in Morjim.
“It has been brought to the attention of the department that many parties are being held in Morjim, close to the Turtle Nesting Site; one such party took place last night, 100 meters away from the site,” said Rane
He further said that the Forest department will take stern action against the concerned individuals, in accordance with the Forest Conservation Act.
“We will also notify the Collector North and the officials who are bound by law to protect the environment and ensure that such incidents do not occur again and that no permissions are granted,” he added
Rane said that he will make a representation to them as the law requires, and the Forest Department will be proactive in taking necessary action to prevent any kind of disturbance to the turtle nesting sites.
“When it comes to environmental conservation and turtle nesting sites, there is a specific provision and a law under the Forest Conservation Act,” he added
