BAMBOLIM: The Goa Association of Resident Doctors have requested for separate accommodation facility for doctors tested positive for COVID 19. With the second wave of COVID pandemic hitting our state hard, there has been an tremendous increase in the workload of all healthcare workers.
“Amidst this crisis, atleast 15 of our doctors have tested positive with atleast 8 more doctors having symptoms, awaiting test reports. There is an urgent need for a separate accommodation facility for doctors who test positive, as they cannot be accommodated in the general hostel for fear of transmission of infection. Most of these doctors do not have any other place for quarantine at the moment,” said a GARD letter to the Health Secretary.
The GARD said that with so much effort directed towards ensuring other aspects of heathcare are in place, it would be unfortunate if we fall short of doctors who form the pivot of this system.
“Hence, we request you to arrange for a separate accommodation facility for quarantine of doctors who test positive at the earliest,” he stated.
