PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Monday has notified the draft circular related to curtailment in the syllabus of Class IX to XII to the extent of 28 percent to 30 percent in the major subjects for the current academic year 2020-21.
The circular has already been issued to all Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools across the state of Goa.
“The revised syllabus for the Academic Year 2020-21 is notified to avoid anxiety among students, teachers, heads of institutions and parents,” the circular states
It further states that “question paper in all practical subjects that is Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Geology, Geography and Banking will be of 70 marks, that is two and half hour paper, instead of 55 marks for the March 2021 Class XII board examination.”
For Class IX and X, the syllabus are curtailed in all subjects except Prevocational Course Subjects, since the portion is limited. In case of Special School, all subject curtailment is notified.
For Class XI and XII, general stream, syllabus are curtailed in all major subjects, while for Vocational stream the curtailment is limited to only General Foundation, Computer Techniques, Agriculture and Horticulture course, Technical, Health care, Commerce based and Bakery.
However, for the Class XI-XII special children’s, the syllabus have also curtailed in all major subjects.
Meanwhile, GBSHE has said that the final circular in this regard will be out only after attending suggestions from the important stakeholders and with approval of State govt.
