PANAJI: Goa College of Engineering has recently signed a MoU with the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) and the Water Resources Department of Goa.
Under this MoU, GEC’s faculty, researchers and students at the Institute will get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest trends in the highway/transportation sector with a common objective of sharing the knowledge in their respective domain. On the one hand, this will facilitate bridging the industry-institution gap and familiarize students with the latest trends in the industry and on the other hand, the research output could be suitably adopted in practice by NHAI.
The GEC Farmagudi will adopt nearby stretches of NHS as specified as a voluntary initiative under the ambit of Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR). The adopted stretch may be used as a field of study for faculty, researchers and students.
Internship to 10 undergraduate/postgraduate students of the GEC Farmagudi periodically and also extend stipend.
Stipend @ Rs. 8000/- per month for undergraduate students and @ Rs. 15000/- per month to Postgraduate students in Transportation Engg., Structural Engg., Geotechnical Engg. Hydraulics Engg., Infrastructure Systems, Earthquake Engg., Urban & Rural Planning, Disaster Mitigation & Management etc. will be provided. All other arrangements shall be the responsibility of GEC Farmagudi. NHAI will extend the stay and transportation facility to the interns within the project jurisdiction on a best effort basis.
MoU Signed with Water Resources Department is for Preparation of State-Specific Action Plans (SSAP) by GEC.
The present situation of water resources development and management, water governance, Institutional arrangements, water-related policies, cross-boundary issues, agreements, etc. This would constitute the Status Report on the State/Union territory. The document will also define problems/issues related to all the aspects of water resources specific to the State.
