PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today was informed that several names listed in the recruitment process undertaken at Goa Medical College (GMC) and other departments did not receive any appointment letters.
The fact came to light when the notices were served to the 1372 applicants who were recruited to various posts.
The High Court has admitted the amended petition filed by petitioner Shailesh Velingkar exposing further irregularities in the recruitment process.
The petitioner also pleads before the Court to direct the State to submit the Staff Selection committee report. The State has sought four weeks to reply.
“Shailendra Velingkar had filed the petition challenging the recruitment process in Goa Medical College (GMC). Petition was filed in January last year, and thereafter state government filed a reply in October,” said Advocate representing Shailendra Velingkar
The Advocate for the petitioner claimed that they received phone calls that though their names appeared, they did not get any appointment letter.
“We have brought this fact to the notice of the court, and accordingly, we have moved amendment RR rules were not followed,” he added.
The Advocate said that the petitioner had filed two petitions today. One is an amended petition, and the second is to direct the state government to submit a report to the staff selection committee.
“The amendment to the petition is allowed while in the second petition, the state has sought four weeks to reply,” the Advocate said.
The petitioner has raised questions on the eligibility of the Staff Selection Committee and the examination process. The publication of the results, which was necessary through the GMC portal, has also not been done.
Velingkar has informed that there are instances wherein appointment letters are in a particular name and the person appointed is different.
The controversial 1,000-odd recruitments in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, had come under the radar of the High Court after Velingkar filed a PIL in February 2022.
