PONDA: Following a horrific accident at Manaswada Junction, Kundaim locals have warned to block NH traffic, giving the ultimatum of 15 days to divert two-way traffic from the bypass at Kundaim and at the same time accident prone Mansawada Junction be used as a service road.
The Sarpanch Survesh Gaude also told the NH officials to divert two-way traffic from Kundaim Bypass.
He said they have been demanding to divert for a long time, but authorities are not paying attention to their demand.
They said Manaswada Junction has become a weekly death trap, causing accidents.
Around four thousand locals reside in the area and fear crossing the Junction as NH traffic speedingly proceeds from the village, which should be a service road at Manaswada.
The Locals here were always living under the threat of crossing Junction, and one shop owner had even stopped conducting business at Mansawada Junction for two years.
The traffic Proceeding from Ponda towards Panjim proceeds one way from Kundaim Mansawada Junction, and this Junction has always remained a hot spot for accidents, and the demand of locals to divert highway traffic two way from the bypass has been ignored said locals.

In a major accident yesterday evening at Kundaim last evening, one labourer died, and five were injured when a fish-laden container truck rammed into Shop at Kundaim Mansawada Junction.
The deceased was trapped under a truck, and debris fell him; he was rescued and shifted to GMC but declared dead.
The deceased was identified as Sarvesh Basak (Age 32) from West Bengal.
Another Injured – Vishwajit Mhaskar (Age 34) Kundai was shifted to GMC.
