PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and several senior state ministers on Friday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office, highlighting infrastructure expansion, national policy decisions and India’s growing international standing as defining features of his tenure.
Addressing the occasion, Chief Minister Sawant said Goa has undergone major transformation during the period, pointing to the development of nearly 299 kilometres of national highways, the construction of a six-lane port connectivity road, railway electrification, the introduction of Vande Bharat train services from Goa and the commissioning of the Mopa international airport. He said these projects have significantly strengthened the state’s connectivity and infrastructure.
Sawant also stated that Prime Minister Modi has received 32 top honours and awards from 16 countries and international organisations, describing the recognition as a reflection of India’s increasing influence and leadership on the global stage.
Highlighting what he termed the government’s landmark achievements, the Chief Minister referred to the abrogation of Article 370, efforts towards making the country free from terrorism and Naxalism, and the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. According to him, these initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to trust, development and public welfare.
Power Minister and MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar congratulated the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Goa and MGP supporters. He recalled that BJP leaders in Goa had unanimously backed Narendra Modi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate in 2014 and said the country has witnessed substantial progress under his leadership. Dhavalikar added that while promoting Hindu values, the Prime Minister has respected and protected all religions and faiths.
Minister Mauvin Godinho said Narendra Modi first ushered in change in Gujarat before bringing reforms across the country. He described the Prime Minister as a globally recognised leader whose leadership is accepted by millions of Indians and increasingly acknowledged by the international community.
Water Resources Development Minister Subhash Shirodkar said the BJP-led government completing 12 years at the Centre is a significant milestone. He added that the party’s uninterrupted tenure reflects the trust and confidence that citizens have placed in the government and its leadership.
