PONDA: Following complaints by locals, Peter Borges, Chairperson of Goa State Commission for protection of Child rights, inspected the OPA Khandepar Junction along with Ponda Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal, PTA Chairman Suraj Garad, Ponda Police team and Curti Khandepar Panchayat Secretary.
A local Sandeep Parkar had complained to Panchayat, BDO and Deputy Collector Ponda about encroachment on the bus stop shed at OPA junction, which forced students to risk their lives, and many students had been injured earlier in the past. Following this, today’s inspection was conducted by Goa State Commission for child right.
He asked the stakeholders, including Curti Khandepar Panchayat and the secretary, for necessary action as the student’s safety was at risk.
Secretary said Panchayat will discuss this issue on 14 Jan and will inform Commission. Similarly, Deputy Collector has been to demarcate areas of PWD-acquired land.
