KOCHI: Principal Minister Pramod Sawant paid a visit to the memorial of Appu Bhat, Vinayak Pandit, and Ranga Bhat in Kochi, who wrote the botanical treatise ‘Hortus Malabaricus’ in the 17th century.
The Chief Minister emphasized how important these three Konkani doctors were to the production of the book and how they helped create over 700 drawings of different species.
He recognized their efforts by having them sign a witness (certificate) that is included in one of the volumes and written in Konkani (Devanagari script).
Chief Minister noted that the book is credited for the first block printing of Konkani, Devanagari script, and Malayalam.
