PANAJI: South Goa MP, Captain Viriato Fernandes, has reaffirmed Congress’s complete support to the government in taking all necessary measures to protect the nation and its citizens in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
While participating in a candlelight vigil at Lohia Maidan on Friday, organized by the South Goa District Congress Committee,
Fernandes stated that this was not the time for criticism, despite some shortcomings.
He expressed gratitude towards the armed forces for carrying out operations in challenging conditions, acknowledging the difficulties of operating with limited resources, given his own experience in the military.
He also offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, stating, “We hope and pray such tragedies do not occur again.”
Condemning the terror attack, Congress Working Committee member Girish Chodankar called for national unity in the face of the violence.
He stressed that terrorists seek to divide the people by targeting innocent lives, and now is the time for the nation to stand together.
Chodankar also shared that the Congress high command has directed district Congress committees across the country to organize condolence meetings.
Additionally, he urged the government to focus on improving recruitment within the armed forces to strengthen national security.
Congress leaders continue to advocate for unity and enhanced security measures in response to the tragic attack.
