PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the Mhadei river basin inspection by Prawah will expose Karnataka’s misdeeds of illegal diversion of water to the Malaprabha basin.
While welcoming the inspection during monsoon season, Sawant said “This is the right time to understand the flow and diversion of water”.
“PRAWAH inspection will expose Karnataka’s wrongdoing. Govt will also prove the same before SC. Let Karnataka approach PM, Goa has already briefed PM on the issue,” said Sawant.
Sawant said that Goa will also put up the facts of water diversion with proof before the Supreme Court. The court has listed the matter in August.
Responding to a question on Karnataka CM approaching PM for Kalasa-Bhandura project clearance, Sawant said that no decision will be taken without taking Goa into confidence.
“Let whoever approaches PM. We have already made a case before PM highlighting the importance of the river to Goa. We are been assured that no decision will be taken without taking us into confidence,” he said.
Sawant today said that the Mhadei inspection is crucial for the state as it will uncover the truth before the PRAWAH members
“This is an outcome of our continuous efforts to protect Mhadei which will strengthen our case and vindicate our stand,” he added.
