PANAJI: In a significant first for Goa’s administrative system, the Revenue Department, under the leadership of Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate, has introduced an Inter-District Transfer Policy for employees of the North Goa and South Goa Collectorates, paving the way for staff transfers between the two districts.
The initiative marks a long-awaited reform, as Collectorate employees previously had no provision for inter-district transfers, unlike employees in certain other government departments where similar arrangements were already in place.
With the introduction of this provision, Collectorate staff will now have greater flexibility in their postings, allowing them to seek transfers between North and South Goa, subject to the applicable conditions and departmental requirements.
The move is expected to bring greater convenience to government employees while enabling the Revenue Department to manage its human resources more efficiently. It will also provide a wider scope for staff deployment, helping strengthen administrative coordination and the functioning of both district Collectorates.
The landmark decision reflects Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate’s focus on addressing long-pending administrative issues and introducing reforms aimed at making the government machinery more responsive, flexible and employee-friendly.
The introduction of the inter-district transfer provision is being viewed as an important step towards modernising the administrative framework of Goa’s Revenue Department.
