Panaji: “Yeh toh hona hee tha! I had sounded alarm when CM Dr. Pramod Sawant announced Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Policy for School Dropouts. Recent Data of 12 percent decline in Students at Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSSCE) is alarming. Government should formulate policies to encourage Students for Higher Education and advanced training in skill development,” stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the drop in number of dtudents registering for XIIth Examination conducted by Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that this can be the fall out of the faulty policies of the BJP Government.
“I hope the Government will immediately conduct a detailed study to find the cause of this decline in number and take corrective steps,” he said.
He added, “I was provided information to my Legislative Assembly Questions that the Government is paying 8000 per month for School Pass-outs between Class Vth to IXth, Students who have passed Xth are paid 8000 per month and pass-outs of Class XIIth are paid 10000 per month under Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Policy for Government Establishment 2023,” pointed Yuri Alemao.
He said that under this scheme, the Students were allowed to work for a fixed duration in any Government Department.
However, he says, there is no provision to provide permanent employment to the Apprentice after completing apprenticeship stated the reply given to me by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
“I had pointed to the Government during the last Assembly Session that this haphazardly announced Scheme will turn out to be a Disaster in the long run with Students dropping out from Schools half way with an eye on the amount being paid as Stipend for short time,” claimed Yuri Alemao.
“I once again appeal to the Chief Minister that Government should launch Programmes to encourage Students for Higher Education and advanced Training in Skill Development which will help them to be better Citizens and get them Industry-ready,” stated Yuri Alemao.
