DELHI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant sought the Centre’s support for a sustainable and well-regulated framework for sand extraction in Goa during a meeting with Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi.
The meeting focused on creating a balanced policy for sand extraction while ensuring environmental conservation and sustainable development. Dr. Sawant described the discussions as fruitful and thanked the Union Minister for his guidance in advancing Goa’s balanced development.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister met BJP MP Anurag Thakur and discussed a wide range of issues concerning Goa’s development. Thakur congratulated Goa for securing the second rank among all Indian states in the Fiscal Health Index 2026 and praised the state’s progress in the tourism and information technology sectors.
He said Goa has set new benchmarks in all-round development under the seven-year leadership of Dr. Sawant, highlighting the state’s achievements in governance, fiscal management and economic growth.
