MARGAO: In a statewide security initiative, the Railway Police of Goa Police have stepped up passenger verification and surveillance operations at major railway stations to identify illegal Bangladeshi nationals allegedly entering the state through railway networks.
The special inspection drive was jointly undertaken by the Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Margao Railway Station in South Goa and Thivim Railway Station in North Goa.
During the operation, officials checked identity documents and travel records of passengers arriving on trains originating from states including Delhi, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. Authorities said the verification process was aimed at confirming the nationality and legal travel status of passengers entering Goa.
Railway Police personnel also carried out awareness activities onboard trains, urging commuters to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities noticed during their journey.
Police officials stated that stringent action under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, will be taken against individuals found entering or residing in India without valid documents or official authorization.
