PANAJI: Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar has said that 500 organic clusters have been principally sanctioned by the Government of India to the state.
“500 organic clusters have been principally sanctioned by the Government of India to the state. It was a very important meeting considering that after COVID, the whole of the agriculture sector is on a boom. He thanked MoS Shobha Karandlaje, who took special interest about the requirements of the farmers in the state and pushed the state’s demand to set up this meeting at the centre,” Kavlekar said.
He further said that the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Nidhi will now be extended to 10000 more farmers in the discussions.
The technical issues that restricted the further extended benefits will now be sorted out by the Agriculture Department, Govt of India. Currently approximately.
“10000 farmers are receiving 6000 annually in three instalments of Rs 2000 each due to strict implementation guidelines of this scheme, around 8300 farmers could take the benefit,” he added.
He said that the proposal to set up a total of 8 mandis in Goa with 4 in south Goa and 4 in north Goa has also been considered. These mandis will be connected to the national online market under the eNAM initiative of the Government.
“State has asked for funds from Center to repair the Khazan bunds and set up State Integrated Organic Agriculture University. These topics were also discussed in the meeting and the future scheme is being planned also, to boost the infrastructure in Agriculture state will be submitting projects under Agriculture infrastructure scheme,” he added.
