PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwjit Rane said that Goa is taking bold steps in the fight against tuberculosis with a comprehensive approach that includes awareness, screenings and timely action.

Through initiatives like Nikshay Vahan and BCG vaccinations,Rane said the state is not only providing essential care but also actively working to reduce stigma and promote a TB-free environment.
“The Satellite OPD at RMD Usgao recently marked a significant step in strengthening Goa’s healthcare outreach, reaffirming the state’s commitment to delivering accessible and quality medical services,” he added
Minister said that the inaugural event, graced by Dr. Mohanrao Dessai, CMO NCDC, along with dedicated GMC doctors, elected representatives, and PHC staff, underscored the collaborative spirit behind this initiative.
“With 82 patients benefiting from this comprehensive healthcare camp—32 in Orthopedic OPD, 18 in Surgery OPD, 19 in Paediatric OPD, 9 in OBG OPD, and 13 in Medicine OPD—the response highlights the critical role such initiatives play in improving lives,” he added
Rane said that ECG services further added to the diagnostic capabilities, ensuring timely interventions and that this initiative reflects the robustness of Goa’s healthcare system, bringing hope and healing to those in need and setting a benchmark for compassionate and inclusive medical care.
