PANAJI: India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its forcast has said that Goa will recieve heavy to very rainfall till October 9 due to the cyclonic circulation over east central Arabian sea off Karnataka coast.
“,Rain in the coming days is likely to be accompanied with thunder and lightning. Please be regularly updated. Because of a possible change in position of circulation over East-Central Arabian sea, Heavy rainfall (Rainfall>6.4cm) very likely at isolated places over North&South Goa on 11th&12th October,” the IMD said
The forcast by IMD also states that
cyclonic circulation over East-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast now lies over East-central Arabian Sea and extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level.
“The trough from circulation over East-central Arabian sea to the Westcentral Bay of Bengal has become less marked” the IMD added
This month, 220 mm rains have already been witnessed over the region withing the first week itself. Possibly, some rains are expected.
A weather system is currently over Arabian Sea off Karnataka Coast and it is likely to shift along the proximity of Goa. Thus, more showers are expected in Goa. Thus, for another week or so, we can expect on and off showers.
Normal withdrawal of Monsoon over Goa is October 14, but with these spells of rains, early withdrawal is not expected. We can see Monsoon withdrawing around October 16, and the stipulated date may be surpassed
