Panaji: Goa’s Under 19 women’s team suffered a heavy 114 run defeat against Mumbai in the Inter State Under 19 SiechemTrophy after their batting line up struggled against a disciplined bowling attack.
Chasing 181 for victory, Goa were bowled out for just 66 in 15.2 overs. The innings never gathered momentum as Mumbai kept taking wickets at regular intervals and prevented Goa from establishing any meaningful partnerships.
Opener Rakshanda Kalangutkar managed nine runs before being dismissed, while Nikhila Naik contributed 18. Muskaan Sab offered the strongest resistance for Goa, scoring 20 from 33 deliveries, but she found little support from the other end.
Mumbai’s bowlers maintained control throughout the chase. Purti Naik was the pick of the attack, finishing with excellent figures of three wickets for just 11 runs. Megan Rodrigues claimed two wickets for 10 runs, while Tanisha Sharma and Shravani Patil picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Mumbai had posted an imposing 180 for two from their allotted 20 overs. Tanisha Sharma led the charge with an impressive 76 from 48 balls, striking 11 fours and two sixes.
Ira Jadhav provided strong support with 61 off 45 balls, while Dhruvi Trivedi remained unbeaten on 33 as Mumbai built a commanding total.
Goa will now look to regroup ahead of their next match, with greater emphasis needed on building partnerships, rotating the strike and handling pressure during the middle overs.
