PANAJI: In a significant boost to women’s cricket and interuniversity sports, Goa University has selected its women’s cricket team to participate in the West Zone Inter University Cricket Women’s Championship 2024-25. The championship, scheduled to take place at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, from January 7-14, 2025, marks a pivotal moment for the university’s athletic endeavors.
The Goa University women’s cricket team, comprising 16 talented players, will be led by Coach Mr. Gaurang Dhuri. The team includes Roshni K. Mayekar, Riya D. Narulkar, Sejal U. Naik, Eshwari R. Borkar, Sanika S. Dhuri, Tulsi D. Dodmani, Kaushika R. Gaonkar, Sakshi T. Gawade, Mrunmayee V. Bhike, Priya P. Gupta, Tanaya R. Mapsekar, Ruchi A. Kumbhar, Presha P. Naik, Gayatri D. Vaingankar, Asmee A. Palav, and Jhashita Ruchi T. Gaonkar.
To mark the team’s departure and show support, a kit distribution and farewell function was organized on January 3, 2025, at the Sports Section of Goa University. The event was attended by key university officials, including Mr. Balachandra Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education, and Mr. Krishna Parsekar, Assistant Sports Officer. Team managers Mr. Ashish Naik and Ms. Rakshanda Pilankar were also present to extend their best wishes to the team.
