PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today informed that Goa’s vaccine wastage rate is only 1.25 percent as compared to the national average.
“Our wastage is very less, it is only 1.25 percent as compared to the national level,” said Rane while addressing a press conference in the city
Rane further said that COVID-19 vaccination drive will now begin at village level and will continue at PHC, CHC and other hospitals across Goa.
“Our government wants to take vaccination drive across people homes and to their doorsteps,”he said
Speaking on mutant strains, Rane said that samples that had been sent to NIV-Pune take months and that when department is in the dark.
He said that state government is exploring possibilities for setting up a genomic analysis of the samples within the state. The infrastructure is expected to cost Rs 1.5 crore.
“We shall be exploring possibilities for setting up a genomic analysis of the samples within the state with infrastructure worth Rs 1.5 crore” said Rane
He further said that with this infrastructure the particular study will ascertain the different variants of the virus present in Goa.
