PANAJI: Goan filmmaker Glen Cardozo’s Konkani short film ‘Ful Ani Sauli’ has been officially selected for the MUMBA International Film Festival 2026, where it will be screened on October 8 at the NFDC-National Film Archive of India in Pune, Maharashtra.
The film is scheduled to screen at 2.59 pm in Audi 1 as part of the five-day festival being held from October 6 to 10.
Set against the quiet landscape of an old Goan house, Ful Ani Sauli explores an unlikely friendship between a young artist and a solitary woman. Their relationship develops through simple moments involving tea, sketches and silence, while unexplained echoes of familiarity gradually blur the boundaries between memory, identity and time.
Cardozo has directed the film and also written its story and screenplay. Tejas V. Naik and Raghav Komarpant have handled cinematography, while Yuri Brito Carvalho has edited the film. The cast includes Rati Bhatikar and Nidhi Amonkar, with Rajendrakumar Nipanikar serving as gaffer.
Describing the idea behind the film, Cardozo said the story is an exploration of silence, memory and human connection.
“I wanted to tell a story where timelines blur without spectacle, where memory and identity overlap quietly, like a shadow following its flower. The garden, the moss, and the tea are not just settings, but emotional landscapes where connection grows organically,” he said.
Cardozo said the film deliberately avoids providing straightforward answers.
“This isn’t a story with answers. It’s one with traces—of warmth, reflection, and second chances. And if, by the end, the viewer feels a soft ache or an inexplicable smile, then we’ve touched something real,” he said.
A 30-year-old filmmaker and cinema enthusiast from Goa, Cardozo is a Fine Arts (Audio Visual) graduate of Goa College of Art. He currently works as an in-house film studio director and has won the Waves 60-Hour Short Film Competition two consecutive times.
Ful Ani Sauli brings together a distinctly Goan visual setting and a restrained narrative to examine a relationship between two women from different generations. Rather than relying on conventional dramatic devices, the film uses nature, silence and everyday interactions to gradually reveal its emotional layers.
Its selection at the MUMBA International Film Festival gives the Goan Konkani-language production an opportunity to reach audiences beyond the state while placing a contemporary Goan story within a wider cinematic showcase.
The festival is scheduled to present films across multiple venues in Pune from October 6 to 10, with Ful Ani Sauli set to screen on October 8.
