PANAJI: Nearly 3 lakh people participated in Goa during the 9th Poshan Maah and Angan Ka Utsav, with 780 Anganwadi workers honoured for completing 25 years of dedicated service, Women and Child Development Minister Vishwajit Rane said.
Rane shared the highlights following a detailed review meeting with the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, describing the initiatives as a significant exercise in community participation, nutrition awareness and recognition of grassroots workers.
The recognition of 780 Anganwadi workers, popularly known as Anganwadi Didis, was a key highlight of the programmes. Beneficiaries of several government welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Griha Aadhar and Ladli Laxmi, were also recognised.
The minister thanked the WCD Department team and Mahila Morcha workers for their efforts in mobilising people and taking government initiatives to communities across Goa.
Rane reiterated the BJP-led government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, strengthening the Poshan Abhiyaan and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of welfare schemes.
He emphasised the importance of frontline workers and grassroots outreach in advancing nutrition initiatives and improving access to government support for women and families.
The programmes concluded with a renewed emphasis on the government’s women-centric development agenda under the slogan *“Sashakt Nari, Samriddh Pradesh”* (Empowered Women, Prosperous State).
