PANAJI: We have seen how the Joshimath in Uttarakhand is sinking, and it seems like the effects are being felt in the Capital City of Goa.
Yes, Goa’s Capital is sinking due to the irresponsible work carried out by teh Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).
With the ongoing works taken up by IPSCDL under Smart City, city roads are taking a beating due to the ongoing Imagine Panaji Smart City works in the capital.
In the second road cave-in, within a month, a sewage tanker was trapped inside a deep ditch opposite Kamat Complex in Tonca.
Luckily, nobody was hurt, and the driver managed to wriggle out.
Today’s cave-in is, in fact, the second case of civic apathy.
The tanker trapped in the ditch was swiftly taken out by the authorities, who rushed to the spot soon after the incident.
The cause is yet to be ascertained, but a preliminary probe suggests that the accident might have happened due to the collapse of part of the road just next to the sewage chamber’s ongoing works.
“The tanker was removed from the spot immediately, no one has been injured in the incident, and everyone is safe,” locals from the area said
On February 6, four labourers working in an open put dug up as a part of the Smart City works were injured after an 18-tonne tipper truck transporting laterite stones sunk inside.
The incident happened near Caculo Mall to the Madhuban area when the truck full of laterite stones was going from one side of the road to deliver stones to St. Inez creek; the work was also undertaken under the smart cities mission.
The truck skidded into the pit, dug on the road for the ongoing smart cities work, and it tilted before toppling over.
