VASCO: Joint meeting to be held with Chief Minister, Goa Shipyard Ltd about employment to Goans and locals. Thirty percent reservation should be given to Goans in GSL, and other central government organizations.
Minister Mauvin Godinho said that there is a big scam in Goa Shipyard Ltd over job recruitment. “GSL should not test the patience of locals. I will refer this issue to the Defence Minister of India and Chief Minister of Goa,” Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said.
Speaking to the reporters on the sideline of nullah desilting at the Bhutebhat area, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said that Goans and local youths from Vasco are deprived of jobs at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL). Even for the post of peon outsider is recruited and not Goan.
He further said that a few days back Chief Minister assured us to look into the matter, and therefore we didn’t do agitation. A joint meeting on May 18 or 19 has been called in which Chief Minister, GSL, and we will be present.
Salkar added that as per my view, 30 percent reservation to the locals and Goans in GSL and central government organizations should be given. Many locals are out of jobs,” Salkar said.
When asked more, he said that if the demands are not met and Goans are not given jobs in GSL then we will agitate.
