PONDA: There is good news for water consumers. As summer began people always worry for water supply as water consumption of consumers increases. Presently water level stored in OPA Plant measured at a level of 4 meter.
Besides Bandharas on Dudhsagar river also fully stored with water which will meet summer water requirement.
EE Nivruthi Parsekar inspected the OPA water level along with AE Jaywant Prabu.
EE Nivruthi Parsekar said OPA water treat daily around 142 MLD water and supply to Tiswadi and Ponda besides parts of Valpoi, Dharbandora etc.
It gets it water from Dudhsagar river and maintain water supply to consumers through out year the water is stored in around 17 Bandharas after rainy season, besides Ganjem Bandhara and Salaulim dam water supply water during summer season. At present 110 MLD water released through Ganjem Usgao Bandhara to OPA Plant from Feb 10 this year.
Similarly Salaulim Dam would release the water as water level dips in OPA in coming summer. Generally water level is maintained at OPA at 4 meter and as it dips in summer below 4 to 3.5 meter the water stored in 17 Bandharas are released one by one starting from upstream for entire summer to meet the water requirement in summer season. So far all Bandharas are filled with storage of water.
EE Nivruthi Parsekar said currently 142 to 160 MLD water is treated on daily basis at OPA from five plants and supplied to Tiswadi and Ponda Taluka besides parts of Valpoi and Dharbandora. There are Five water treatment Plants at OPA are functioning with 8 MLD was built during Portuguese era in 1957, 12 MLDA commissioned in 1972,55 MLD Commenced in 2006, 40 MLD in 2006 and 27 MLD in 2020.
