PANAJI: The Goa Children’s Court, Panaji has sentenced a government employee to undergo one-year imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs one lakh for raping a minor girl.
Judge Sayonora Telles Laad, the president of the Goa Children’s Court, found the accused guilty of violating Section 354-A (1) (iii) of the IPC, which carries a one-year prison sentence, and Section 342 of the IPC, which carries a six-month prison sentence.
According to Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, the accused was found guilty by the court and given a one-year prison sentence along with a fine of one lakh rupees.
In 2018, the Old Goa Police filed charges against the government employee. Between 2013 and 2018, the victim had repeatedly complained that the accused had shown her his private parts and watched explicit videos at her house.
In addition, he unlawfully entered her home, imprisoned her inside, and assaulted her sexually. Ten witnesses were questioned by the court.
The case was looked into, and PSI Vijaynath Kavlekar filed charges. Public prosecutors T Narvekar and Francisca Noronha argued on behalf of the State, while attorneys Anup Kudtarkar and S Khot argued on behalf of the accused.
